Choose
What You Want to
Regret

Drawing on decades of experience leading organizations and mentoring others, Dr. Jim Murdaugh offers practical perspectives to help leaders navigate difficult decisions, strengthen their judgment, and lead with greater confidence and purpose.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Choose What You Want to Regret: Leadership That Matters is written for leaders who want practical guidance for the challenges that come with leading people and organizations.

Through real-world experiences and lessons developed over a lifetime of leadership, Jim explores how leaders can approach difficult choices, navigate competing priorities, build stronger teams, and become more intentional about the kind of leader they want to be.

At the heart of the book is a simple idea:

We may not be able to avoid every regret, but we can choose which ones we are willing to live with.

WHY I WROTE THIS BOOK

Leadership requires decisions—often difficult ones, and rarely without tradeoffs.

Over the years, many of the leaders I have mentored have come to me with questions about personnel, competing priorities, organizational challenges, and situations in which there simply was no perfect answer.

Those conversations became part of the inspiration for Choose What You Want to Regret. I wanted to share the lessons and perspectives that have shaped my own leadership and offer practical guidance to others facing the same kinds of difficult decisions.

My hope is that this book helps readers become more intentional about how they lead, more confident in the choices they make, and more thoughtful about the impact those choices have on others.

Because while we may not be able to avoid every regret, we can choose which ones we are willing to live with.
